Ithaca may be gorges, and Niagara has me FALLing in love, but Cleveland is always ready to rock.
We begin today's journey in the town of Erie, PA, which I now know is a tourist destination and therefore should not be expected to have an abundance of rooms available. After breakfast at the hotel, Aunt Anita and I begin our day's journey. First stop today is Cleveland, OH.
After getting diverted from our Canadian tour, we "recalculated" our way into Ohio and to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (http://www.rockhall.com/) with a special exhibit on the Rolling Stones. I love pop culture and this museum played to my interests. While I could tell you every detail of this trip, I think that the pictures say it best. (If I could add music I would.)

My Pop Pop (maternal grandfather) and his brothers started a business called Presswell Records, which if you couldn't tell by the name, their business was making records. While I didn't notice any Presswell stamps on any of the records featured, I felt like they would appreciate the history depicted in the museum.
One of the exhibits followed the history of Rock and Roll through time. From Memphis (1948-1959) to Detroit (1962-1971) to London (1963-1966) to San Francisco (1965-1969) to Los Angeles (1965-1979) to London/NY/Los Angeles (1975-1980) to Seattle (1985-1995). It felt reading a history textbook, except one that I would really enjoy because it was set to music. And like a history textbook the evolution and the story continues. The exhibit ended in 1995, and I am interested in what they will call my generation of rock and roll history.
We spent 6 hours in this museum and only left because we felt like we were in information overload. I could spend hours there and wish that I could download all of the songs featured in every exhibit.
By chance, while we were in line getting tickets to see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, we came upon one of those caddies that features brochures on all of the local attractions. One of which is the following:
For those of you that can't read the sign hanging over my shoulder, and for those of you who can and just want the conformation, yes this is in fact the house featured in the classic Christmas movie- A Christmas Story. And more importantly- yes there is a leg lamp in the window.
My mom, who was becoming a worry-wort over this roadtrip, believing some horrible accident would occur, responded to our trivia picture with the response, "Is it the house where those girls that were kidnapped were found?" Umm...no mom it's not in fact, and more importantly why do you think we would go visit the house where a bunch of kidnapped girls were being held on this roadtrip... stop reading those murder/mysteries please.
Continuing our adventure we stopped for dinner in South Bend, Indiana, the home of the University of Notre Dame. A dinner at Ciao's, an Italian Restaurant where I had the eggplant parmesan and Aunt Anita the lasagna, was delicious, and oddly for a Saturday night, a restaurant that was completely empty with the exception of our table. The waitress said it was odd because the night before was extremely busy.
After dinner, I finally released the reins and let Aunt Anita drive the 1.5 hours to Chicago while I searched for hotels.
